Stellar Queen

On a lonely hill of green
Sat a strange and dream-like Queen
She felt she'd come from lands afar
She reasoned that she ruled the stars
And every night she'd sit and stare
Into the void of almost there
Waiting for a fateful sign
Whispering 'They all are mine'
And there she sat while seasons changed
The wheel it turned and rearranged
the tiny points of light above
And still she thought it was her love
Her people dared not ask her why
She spent her nights up in the sky
They wondered if she'd ever leave
her fragile world of make-believe
All dressed in white, her golden hair
Grew long and tangled through the year
Her once grand clothes they turned to grey
And yet she's stay and softly say
I am the Queen of Gemini
Lyra, Leo, way up high
is in my reign of outstretched arms
and in-between my upturned palms
And so it seemed her fate was sealed
The fabric of her world had peeled
away to leave a hardened core
and who could guess at what she saw
So time rolled on and gathered dust
Her shining eyes they turned to rust
And when she could no longer see
She sighed and set the heavens free
And one by one the stars they fell
Freed from their immortal cell
Streaks of life that came to ground
So gracefully without a sound
Their Queen was dead and gone away
They had no reason now to stay
Her people wept and wondered why
They slept beneath a darkened sky

Firesong

Crackle, snackle, fire and wood
Burning fast, it warms the blood
Buckshots in the evening light
From deep within this daemon’s heart
Golden eyes that flare at me
Bare my soul’s eternity
If I stare long enough, I might
just melt away and fall apart

The Island

Corner me a piece of light
And spread it out to dry
Turn it backwards for the night
And pin it to the sky
Create a world of island lore
that dreams of larger times
Imagine miles of silver shore
Of many coves and chines
A Celtic kiss above the sea
A place where ancient kings
lie easy for eternity
And sailors stretch their wings
Show me where the lightning turns
Into a needles eye
Where moonlit waters slowly churn
Where painted devils fly
And in amongst the grass and ground
The smaller souls do creep
Their end comes swift without a sound
A flash of red so sleek
Take all of this and hide it neat
away and out of sight
A tiny universe, complete
This lady, dressed in white

Come Follow Me

Come follow me into the night
Along the dark and ancient ways
Where memories and dreams take flight
And dance into forgotten days
Come take my hand and walk with me
While all around the starlight sings
And look upon the open sea
How silently the world begins

I Dreamt

I dreamt of kings and angel wings
That danced across the hours
Softly sighing, gently dying
Sweetly it devours
Through the mists and faerie twists
I weave my tiger tears
Into the never, tightly tether
Deep as morning nears
